Review - L'Oréal Paris Elvive Total Repair 5 Restoring Masque

This hair product is my new obsession!
I love to take care of my hair and I love it especially when the product smells really nice. L'Oréal has lived up to its standards with this one.. It makes my hair smell expensive, eventhough it only costs $12 NZD.

I like how it is packaged with the maroon/red, white and gold theme, it'll definitely look good on anyone's bathroom :) The hair masque is suppose to be left in your hair for about 1-2 minutes, but as you know, when it comes to hair conditioning, I don't follow the rules so I leave it in for another 5 minutes to soak in the full nourishment.
How many times do I have to emphasize the smell..sweet sweet fragrance that stays in my hair for days. Lovely.
As for the results, it leaves my hair shiny from root to tip, soft and very manageable. I recommend this product and I will definitely buy it again and again and again!

To Inject or not to Inject? The Biggest Question of the 21st Century..

Okay so as we all know, that in this day and age, the general population of Hollywood has been injecting their faces like manic drug users with this thing called, Botox. What  is botox you may ask? Well according to the ever so informative website, Wikipedia, "Botulinum toxin is a protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, and is known to be extremely neurotoxic." Okay so in that sentence you might have noticed the words, "toxin" and "neurotoxic", which means that botox is harmful and poisonous to the nerves and nerve cells of your body and face. This process can destroy the nerve cells which can lead to numbness of the part of the body being injected. So, I still don't get why people would inject this botox poison into their face and lips just to look well, ridiculous really.

So I did a bit of research (although I didn't need to look too far and wide) and I found a couple of actresses sporting the famous "frozen look" caused by botox:

Nicole Kidman

Kylie Minogue

The Famous Cat Lady

I don't know about you guys, but their facial expressions don't look human-like-normal at all. Botox can lead to serious nerve damages and bad side effects. But for all I know, it'll be nasty. The Cat Lady sure looks happy. Or maybe not? I really can't tell, can you?

Botox is a personal choice, but if I were you, I wouldn't even think about it. And to those who have started injecting poison to who knows where, stop before you get hooked!

Review - Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Lotion with Vit. E

One word: Yummy!

Palmers Cocoa Butter with Vitamin E is the yummiest body moisturizer I have ever used. I apply it all over my body twice a day and it leaves my skin smooth and moisturized for the whole day. But what I really love about this product is its smell.. The aroma is just addictive! Its like applying chocolate all over your body without the chocolate brown color lol! It comes in a pump bottle or in just a normal twist cap. I prefer the pump bottle because you just press it down et voila - the lotion magically appears!

I highly recommend this product especially if you're a chocolate lover :)  The sweet chocolate/vanilla smell will wake up you up and give you that nice soothing feeling. Refreshing.

Hair, Hair and more Hair!

Who says blondes have more fun? Pfft! That is the biggest myth of all time. I don't have anything against blondes but I just think that dark hair is bootayful.
So I just wanna say that i love dark hair especially in men (: haha. For I, myself have black hair and I absolutely love it. Dark haired girls look exotic, mysterious (oooohh..) and just striking (wa-pow!).

To keep your luscious dark hair (or whatever hair color you have) soft and shiny, here are some tips from the one and only, Me.

  • apparently using baby shampoo can make your hair softer and smell nice like a baby's hair..lol. it is also gentle so it'll keep your hair clean without the added chemicals.
  • washing your hair with bottled water can or would probably make a difference to your hair (you wouldn't know unless you try..right? then let me know if it works lol).
  • everytime i have a post regarding hair tips, I always, religiously include this tip: HEAT PROTECTOR. for your hair of course.
  • and the second most important is to deep condition your hair at least once a week. this'll keep your hair nice and happy :)
  • i like to tie my hair up when i go to sleep, like i put it in a bun so at night, when i wiggle around my bed (asleep) my hair doesn't get all tangled up and it'll also reduce frizz the next morning.

If you take care of your hair and follow my tips..then you might just have the dream hair that you've always wanted..(no guarantees ladies, but i like to be positive).

oh yeah, here's a pic of me and my bestie Steph .. i put it here because, duh, we both have dark hair :) and i also love this picture.

Review - Pantene Pro-V 3 Minute Miracle Treatment

"Intensive damage repair in just 3 minutes"

I've been meaning to write a review on this conditioner and now here it is..
I'm a religious user of this product for about a year now, and all I can say is that it makes my hair shiny and soft from root to tip! I recommend this product and reward it 5 out of 5 stars.

The advertisement says to leave the conditioner on for 3minutes, but I usually leave it on for more than, say, 5-10 minutes.

So.. typical of me, here are the PROs and CONs of this product:

PROs:

  • it works like a miracle! haha - it does what its suppose to do which is to rehydrate and repair your hair from the inside-out.
  • smells nice :)
  • the package has 3 15mL tubes, which is handy so you don't have to keep on going to the shops whenever you need one
  • if you use daily heat styling, then this product is definitely for your hair :) I guarantee that after one wash with this product, it'll give your hair its full life and shine back and so much more if you keep on using it..

CONs:
  •  if you have long hair, a 15mL tube is not enough and will only cover the lengths of your hair
  • it is a tad bit expensive considering the amount you pay for - $7.40 NZD
  • the packaging is quite hard to open..haha not really a CON but I find it difficult sometimes, especially when I've just cut my nails short.

Lipstick Hunt!

So.. I just got home from the shops and tried on this new lipstick I bought with my last money of the week.... and tah-dah! It sucks. Grrrrrr! I'm so annoyed right now. I blame the shop for not having any testers available for the customers. Poor. Well that was my initial reaction anyways. I must admit I was careless for buying it without testing it first.

This is the lipstick I bought in a yuck color that doesn't even suit me. Haha it made my lips look a bluish-purply color. Eww so unflattering. It probably would suit someone with a fairer complexion, rather than mine, which is a warm brown tone.

Maybelline NY #405 Yummy Plummy

Yeah, I don't know why I'm blogging about this, but it just shows that you should not buy  makeup that you are not 100% sure about - or don't even know the actual color of. Lesson learned for today :)

So here I am, still in search of the perfect lipstick color..who knew it could be this complicated?
Stay tuned for more updates!

Low Riding. Not our Future.

You know what I'm talking about.. I'm sure most of us have seen this "style" before (well, I for one was not sure whether to use the word "style" or not, because for me, it ain't stylish at all!) - Low jeans down to the knees, boxers/briefs/thank god no bare cheeks exposed in full view. Like WTF?? Seriously guys!?!
If you think that people would treat you seriously when you dress like this, then forget about it.
These people need fashion therapy to make them realize how ugly this type of style is.
The Fashion Police would definitely not be happy at all. It should be banned.

So, I just thought maybe I should look at the PROs and CONs of this style of clothing and see what I get....

CONs:
  • it makes it hard for guys to look normal while walking, because a) they're trying so hard for their jeans not to fall on the ground by opening their legs slightly more spread out than normal whilst trying to walk, and  b) they look like constipated penguins.
  • they look unfashionable, tacky, stupid, and try hard-ish.

PROs:
  • I cudn't think of any.

My advice is, if this is because your jeans/pants/shorts are too big for you or too loose then maybe you should go get a belt.

I think I've made my point.

Review - e.l.f. Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF15 in Watermelon

Okay, so where do I start? Well, the e.l.f. Super Glossy Lip Shine in Watermelon is definitely the definition of what this lip gloss is all about. I have been searching and searching for the perfect colored lip gloss that would look great on me..and now here it is! Its the first time I've used an e.l.f. makeup product, and I am totally impressed.

The e.l.f. lip gloss, which I bought for only $4 NZD is the cheapest yet most long wearing lip gloss I've ever had (and mind you, I've had HEAPS of them).

Here are some of the PROs and CONs of this product:

PROs:

  • it gives a beautiful nice pink color that would give you an instant pick me up look.
  • the lasting effect of this lip gloss on your lips is amazing! I've had mine on for about 5hours after all that eating and drinking without any retouching.
  • the color is not too harsh for everyday wear. it looks natural, except for the shine of course lol.
  • the size of the lip gloss is totally enough to last you for months.
  • the smell is yummy..mmmm..watermelon!
  • ..and it is so affordable, I am thinking of stocking up and buying 10more of these just in case they stop selling them, which I wish they wudn't. haha.
  • SPF15!
  • i just LOVE this gloss :)

CONs:

  • its a little bit sticky compared to the other lip glosses I've had. but you'll get over it.
  • the writing on the lip gloss package fades away..not a biggie since it's only $4 lol.

Here's my lips with the e.l.f. super Glossy Lip Shine on:
the photo doesn't really do justice on the color of the gloss haha. I had to put the camera extra close to my lips so that it'd show the closest color possible to the actual color.

Everyday Makeup ❤

In my point of view as you guys probably already know from reading my previous entries, that I for one, is against heavy makeup as they can cause a lot of dilemma for you and your skin. What are they you may ask? Well first of all, it is not a good look! It's unnatural/fake, and kinda looks "drag queen-ish." It can also cause your skin to breakout which can leave you nasty pimple marks. Those are good enough reasons why girls (and boys) should not wear heavy makeup.
When it comes to your daily beauty routine, I suggest to keep it light and natural when  putting makeup on your face. The saying "less is more" definitely applies to this matter.

Here are some tips and tricks for a refreshingly natural looking face everyday you step out of your door:

  • face- do not choose a foundation/tinted moisturizer which has a shade darker or lighter than your normal complexion - this can give the clown face effect, or the orange face look, which are both ugly and unflattering :|
  • when it comes to your eyes, keep it simple - use a bronzer on your eyelids to give that natural look plus the shimmer that will make your eyes pop. Ideally, use a golden shade or silver. But remember! Do not use the highly glittered ones - keep it subtle.
  • also, if you're not the type who likes to put eye-makeup on (which is me), go for the eyelash curler as it can instantly enhance your eyes. Another good trick is to lightly heat the eyelash curler using a hairdryer  in a low heat setting before curling your eyelashes - this technique can increase the "holdage" of your eyelashes' curl.
  • for your lips, keep it...SIMPLE. haha that is my favorite word today. use a shade of color that does not look harsh, which means no bright colored lipsticks! lol. I recommend the nivea lipbalm range - they offer the best lipbalms around as the product moisturizes your lips and adds a bit of color just enough for everyday use.
  • cheeks - use whatever blush on you want. i love blushers and they are my favorite type of makeup. blushers can brighten up your face (literally if you put too much on..not a good idea). I use the L'Oreal Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Blusher. This product is really good as I can put as much as I want and the color of my skin still looks natural and glowing. also, its mineral powder which is a total plus! apply the blusher on the apple of your cheeks (if you don;t know where they are, they are the round area on your cheeks when you smile with your teeth out. haha.), and not under your cheekbones as this technique can make you look older and gaunt-ish.

..and you're all prep and ready to go!

Review - Nivea Tinted Moisturiser.

The Nivea Visage Tinted Moisturiser (TM). Well what can I say? I've been using this product for 4years now and there is a reason why I'm still using it today. Religiously. I give this TM a rating of 4 out 5.

PROS.
  • has a lightweight feeling. it's not as heavy as the normal foundation.
  • i have oily skin, but this TM gives me a shine-free face.
  • has SPF protection.
  • very affordable at only $7.00 NZD.
  • it is non-comedogenic - meaning, it does not block pores.
  • has a nice smell, non-offensive.
  • and it adapts to your natural skin color.

CONS.
  • you have to put 2 layers if you want a good coverage.
  • it stains your clothes. i advice that after using this product, rinse your hands with water before handling any object (or clothing).
  • it only comes in one shade of color.

tips to get silky hair without your weekly visit to the hairdresser

So for all you hair fanatics out there, here are some tips on how to achieve glossy looking hair without visiting your hairdresser. It'll save you money, time, and maybe petrol if you're driving there. Haha :P

  • After shampooing and conditioning, only wash your hair with cold water, as it seals the hair cuticles which makes your hair oh so sparkly ;)
  • Always, and always use heat protection for your hair whenever a hairstraightner, blowdryer, or hot rollers are involved as it can help prevent your hair from getting fried and frizzled from all that heat overtime.
  • Make sure that when you blow dry your hair, point the nozzle of the blow dryer down towards the lengths of your hair and not against the growth of your hair as it can give you a frizzy/fuzzy look unless you're going for the "bed head look," but otherwise, always point it downwards.
  • Use shine serum to finish off your look after styling.
  • Use the L'Oreal Glossy Rich Hair Color as it has natural ingredients that can make your hair look glossier than normal. If you only want glossy hair without the color, then choose the same shade as your hair color.
  • Most importantly for a shiny healthy looking hair, girls, don't starve yourselves as proper nutrition has a huge effect on how you look on the outside. So, if you want naturally beautiful hair, eat healthy and get a dose of your fave fruit and veggies daily :)

Just a Thought ❤

Lately I've been thinking about fashion and how it has evolved throughout the years, and it may be obvious or not, but the trends are just going around in circles. Like, the fashion today is nothing new or refreshing, i.e. it's vintage..like hello? what does that mean? It means that its something already done before. Then what's with the blonde hair red lipstick? Wayyyy overdone these days. I'm not against it or anything but could this be it? Could this be that fashion has hit a "dead end?"...

..It just makes me wonder what the next big trend is next season,is it something new to the fashion industry or just another trend reinvented? I guess we'll all just have to wait and see.

Be URself.

Hey girlies! I just wanna say that the real key to beauty is self-confidence and being comfortable with who you are :) No more words needed. It's pretty self explanatory..

They're all just Labels.

When I think about fashion, the designer labels do not appeal to me as much more than the ordinary shops "we" people shop in. For me, fashion is not who you are wearing but it is how you wear it. Like for example, when I watch MTV and see these rap music videos with pimps and hoes wearing all labelled clothing from head to toe, its starting to look kinda cliche to me.

I am not a big fan of designer clothing because, one, I can't afford it haha and two, why bother when you can buy the same style cheaper which then leaves you more money to spend on shopping = more clothes & shoes.

So what if you're wearing Louis Vuitton? or D&G? You are not automatically considered as fashionable. At the end of the day, you are wearing something that looks good and makes you feel good no matter what shop you got it from. That's my spiel. Haha. Goodnight :)

How many leopards died for that um..tracksuit? lol. Who cares?   It's D&G. Poofters.

The female species' tendency to go OTT on makeup

Listen up ladies! First of all I would like to say that LESS IS DEFINITELY MORE. I don't get why girls wear too much makeup that from a mile away you could see how sparkley their eyelashes are. Haha. But you get what I mean right? Yes we've all seen it before (well most of us anyways) where you walk down the street then BOOM there's a girl with 4inches deep of foundation, bright red lipstick and a harsh orange tan. Wtf.

The key to beauty is simplicity and being natural. Now I'm not saying that makeup is bad, but keep it moderated and you know how people say "Dress for the occasion?" Well the same goes with makeup. If your going to school, there is absolutely no need for the Ronald McDonald face alright? Your not going to a children's birthday party to do tricks. You get the drift.

Here are some tips that everyone probably already know:

  • If you are wearing bright lipstick or gloss, do not wear dark eye makeup.
  • Match the color of your blush to the color of your lips, instead of having it all mismatched all over your face. Not a good look.
  • Do not put those glitter crap on your face as it will make you look like a walking talking disco ball.
  • Do not use a foundation that is too dark for your face as it will not make you look good (obviously), but instead, do the opposite effect.
DO's

DONT's

Now you decide which looks better..

It must be winter..

Some of my favorite winter must haves that I can never live without..

The all important lip balm.

For me it is an essential item to always have in your bag as the cold temperature hits the low. I love the new Nivea Cherry Lip Balm. It smells delicious and the color is amazing as it's not too bright nor pale! Love love love this lippy ❀

The scarf.

Okay, now first of all we're not talking about just some old shaggy scarves. We're talking about the ones that you can just wrap around your neck and still look good. They're fat but yet sophisticated. I mean why the hell do people wear scarves that only cover a quarter of their neck when it's 2 degrees outside? I know right? Haha. The tip is to keep it bright, light or dark but also make sure that it's comfy and feels nice against your skin ;)

The high-waisted skirt.

This is probably the one type of clothing that you'll see me where all-the-time! It never gets old. And the good thing about it is, you can dress it up or down depending on the occasion or season lol.
In winter you can wear  it with stockings and boots or a ballet shoes or whatever shoes you like. It's a very versatile style and it comes in different colors!

The all trendy gloves.

You gotta keep your hands warm! this does not mean reaching out for the wooly ones your grandma gave you when you were 12. haha. Now you can get studded ones, glittered ones, fingerless ones, bright ones, and  just strictly for fashion purposes, the one that covers only your fingers (I mean don't be silly okay?!). Well to be honest, I don't really wear gloves or socks because I get claustrophobic. But the point is, it looks good :)
